Boathouse Staff Job Description:

This position is a combination of boathouse work, kayak tour guiding, and customer service. This is a physically demanding job. Employees must be able to lift kayaks up to 50 lbs, Stand-Up Paddleboards, equipment, etc. Employees must be able to walk up and down ramps, swim, and work outdoors in very hot and dry conditions.

Boathouse Responsibilities, Duties, & Requirements:

• Give basic paddling instructions
• Provide boundaries and routes
• Go over safety instructions and weather concerns
• Help customers get fitted in their kayaks, SUPs, Paddles, and PFDs
• Assist customers in getting in and out of equipment
• Perform rescues
• Lift kayaks and SUPs in and out of storage and on and off the dock
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
• Clean and organize boathouse
• Clean and scrub boat dock
• Must have cell phone & reliable transportation
• Maintain and repair rental gear
• Handle Reservation Booking
• Customer Service & Point of Sale operations
• Perform land & water rescues
• Uphold & communicate Headwaters Kayak, Inc. rules & regulations
• Represent Headwaters Kayak, Inc. professionally at all times
• Ability to perform the duties outlined above while working alone
• Must be CPR & First Aid certified

Kayak & SUP Tour Guide Responsibilities, Duties, & Requirements:

• Help remove and return kayaks to and from storage
• Help customers get fitted in their equipment
• Assist customers in getting into and out of the water
• Offer basic paddling tips to enhance customer’s enjoyment
• Help keep group together
• Must be able to assist lead guide with rescues
• Must enjoy talking with customers to ensure positive experience
• Must know & adhere to the tour routes (this will require some personal time to learn)
• We will train you on the routes as well
